Who is Mr. Niyogi?

Mr. Niyogi is the protagonist of my first novel Mr. Niyogi’s Last Audit.

Mr. Niyogi is based on a person very close to my heart. He was a person that people loved to meet because he would make jokes, empathize, be very pleasant to whoever came to meet him.

Behind the facade of a happy person was a man who cared for those he loved and would work tirelessly to make life easy for them. He was an accountant by profession and retired after a long career in accounting and company finance.

In his 70s get got diagnosed for Parkinson’s disease and the once happy and independent go-getter lost his self-confidence. He lost interest in talking to people, he lost his desire to be physically active.

On days that were worse than others, he would say that he never thought that he would become what he had become.

In fond memory of the person who had always done his best to help those around him, Mr. Niyogi’s persona was born.
